Just wanted to gets the community's input on a product that we may launch in a couple of months to compliment the Access Gateway.  This is not a sell, just wanting to see if what we are solving is a perceived problem...

This is an extract from http://www.epafactory.com/AccessStick/tabid/132/Default.aspx

Access Gateway relies upon several Active X components and clients in order to use all of the functionality that they solution can offer.  Examples of this include:

  • Net6helper
  • End Point Analysis Client
  • LiveEdit
  • ICA Client

Sometimes users do not have the correct privileges on a machine to install these clients.  This can result in a reduced user experience as certain functionality is not made available to them.
In addition when Access Gateway is accessed certain information can be left on the client such as cookies, temporary internet files and browsing history.  Further more if ICA client drive mapping is utilised then corporate data can be left on unknown devices.
As an organisation you are put in a situation where you end up supporting non-corporate assets who are trying to access the remote systems.
The Access Stick from EPAFactory provides a solution to all of these issues.  The Access Stick is a USB stick where all of the relevant clients are preinstalled onto a stick users carry with them.  From any client machine they can plug in the stick and the corporate Access Gateway Advanced system is launched without any client installs required.  Any information that is downloaded as part of the session (temporary files, cookies etc) are redirected to the stick so that no corporate data is left on the device.
Access Stick simplifies the user's experience, reduces the helpdesk burden by making every asset a known quantity and increases the security of the Access Gateway solution.

Is this valid or are we solving an issue that does not exist?

Thanks in advance,

Tim
