Is it me missing the point or is having to use the NavUI, then launch an Access Centre (or link to Web Interface), wait for that to load in a new Window, then launch your  Presentation Server applications, not only poor integration its a big waste of your time?

Why aren't Presentation Server applications available directly in the NavUI (no web interface, no access centre getting in the way) they should just appear in the applications tab, or wherever else I want to put them in the NavUI.

And the Web Interface hotfix that is due, that's a halfway house at best.

The NavUI should have access through to the Presentation Server applications with no messing about.

Same Here,

We have a Citrix Access Gateway Appliance which works well and then passes you to a Citrix Access Gateway Enterprise Server (AGE) which passes you to a Presentation Server.

This requires you to log into the Gateway and then again into the Access Gateway Enterprise Machine agin - same credentials.

also the AGE does not forward you to the Presentation Server automatically after a VPN connection is made which makes the whole procedure seem a bit like all the components are made by different vendors.

Unless of course i am missing some settings to fix this but by looking around seems many people have the same issues.

Something that should help a bit though is that with 4.2 of AGE the Secure Gateway will sit on the appliance, eliminating the effective double hop you have at the moment, and giving you full VPN Access that you get from the Gateway appliance.

The bit that I am looking forward to seeing is what has been done to make access to PS applications more integrated, i.e. without seperate logons and new windows opening all over the place.

Still only a few more weeks to wait and then we shall see! After all, Citrix won't miss the chance to show it off at iForum will they?

Hopefully that will be true, however we only had citrix installed last week and the installers were warning us that 4.2 will not fully merge the AGE and the Access Gateway Appliance together - still requiring the AGE server for end-point analysis.

Hopefully they will be wrong and the two units will be integrated into the one.

No they were correct, 4.2 won't integrate the Secure Gateway and Access Manager onto the appliance. Doing that would break the security model developed for AGE; the appliance runs the scans and passes the results to the Access Manager on the internal network for analysis, this is so that IF the box in the DMZ is compromised then there is minimal exposure of corporate security information, unlike most contemporary solutions which keep everything on the one box.

What it also means is that you can take a third party portal or intranet and present that through the secure gateway, but still use the Access Manager to deliver the granular control and access to file shares, applications, printing etc..but within the 3rd party portal.

I have written a bit more about this in an editorial article on the site.

Thanks

brian

'the installers were warning us that 4.2 will not fully merge the AGE and the Access Gateway Appliance together'

Just to echo Brian's comments, we have always know that this was a two component solutions and Citrix have never pretended otherwise.  Issues usually arise from where customers expectations have been wrongly set.

The two component architecture is preferable to a single box solution from a security perspective.

Tim

Ok thanks for the info, not really worried about one box doing all, more insterested in the end user not noticing that they are getting passed between multiple servers.
